Helena Hauff
Making her recording debut in 2013, Helena’s first release was a 3-track EP – Actio Reactio – on Actress’ Werkdiscs imprint. She has since partnered with PAN (as Black Sites alongside F#x), Lux Rec, Bunker sublabel Panzerkreuz and Texan cassette imprint Handmade Birds. Fully embracing her love of hardware, Helena joined James Dean Brown’s legendary electronic improv outfit Hypnobeat (founded back in 1983) in 2013, blazing a trail across Europe with their intense polyrhythmic jam sessions on the TB-303, TR-707 and TR-808.
“I have the feeling it’s more one-to-one – you do something and then the machine reacts. The machine has its own mind too, so it gives something back.”
Her 2015 album “Discreet Desires” embodied Helena’s deep-seated beliefs about music as a radical force and unifying movement. Something that is evident from her growing stature as a selector and her enthusiasm for musical subcultures from punk to nu wave, industrial, krautrock and avant garde electro – all of which were rooted in raw experimentation and existed in polar opposition to the perfect, polished mainstream.
In addition to being a highly respected producer, at the core of Helena’s personality is her commitment to, and innate talent for, the craft of DJing. Acclaimed for her skill and unique selection, her profile has rocketed in the last two years as she has taken on a BBC Radio 1 Residency, delivered her debut BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, played a legendary B2B set with Ben UFO at Sonar 2017, graced the covers of Crack Magazine, DJ Mag and earned herself the #12 spot in Mixmag’s “Top 20 DJs of 2016”.

Jerry the Cat
Music producer Jerry the Cat (Jerrald James) is a skilled percussionist and DJ, noted for his rhythmic feel and smooth delivery of interesting, often exotic music. His productions include label releases, remixes and experimental film soundtracks*. Though he creates for a broad range of genres, styles and moods, his productions are uniquely personal and identifiable. Often, his music is atmospheric and emotionally suggestive, well suited to film, but even his hardest dance floor beats are immediately accessible and seductive. It is a trait he carries from production to performance.
Using tension, release and contrasts in sound, Jerry develops captivating DJ sets, effectively enveloping his audience in a conceptual portrait in sound. His House music sets incorporate infectious selections often spiced with tribal elements and original material. His Techno set spans the gamut from minimal to hard, drawn from Detroit, Native American and African roots.
Jerry has a wealth of experience playing congas and percussion within the context of many musical genres: jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, blues, gospel, rock, disco, classical, theatrical, experimental, fusion and electronica. Highlights in his background include appearances with Parliament/Funkadelic, disco group CJ & Company (‘Devil’s Gun’), recordings and appearances with gospel great James Cleveland, and work with former Motown producer Sylvia Moy as a session musician.
A dynamic percussionist, Jerry has performed and/or recorded with an impressive list of electronic music producers and DJs, including Derrick May, Carl Craig, Roger Sanchez, Moodymann (Kenny Dixon Jr.), Theo Parrish, Larry Heard, Robert Owens, Charles Schillings, Kevin Saunderson, ReCloose, Little Louis Vega, Scott Grooves, Pepe Braddock, Cassius, Gilb’r, I Cube, Claude Young, the Detroit Grand Pubahs, and many others. He has played at many famous venues around the world.
Jerry is also an experienced radio DJ. He established a radio presence in Windsor, Ontario, Canada from 1992 to 1998, naming his show “The Rhythm Gallery” on CJAM 91.5 FM. He set a defining atmosphere, exploring a variety of fusions and a broad eclectic range of material. From Woodstock to Jazz; to 80s Pop to Disco and Funk; to Afro-Cuban Latin Jazz to Brazilian, Reggae and Salsa; from Ambient to Acid Jazz, Trip Hop, Deep House, Drum ‘n’ Bass, and Techno, Jerry’s openness to new experiences in music allowed him to continually evolve, drawing on appealing elements relevant to many audiences, and to expose his audiences to genres new to them. The “Rhythm Gallery” continued after his departure hosted by his friend Adam Francesconi.
Jerry’s involvement in creative endeavors over the years gives him a unique insight into both the artistic and business sides of the arts. He has managed venues and a theater company, owned an art gallery and a dance lounge, and promoted events and exhibits. The Skyloft Gallery, which he co-owned with DJ Minx and Dana Keaton, became quite well known as an underground cultural center. In 2000 he opened a dance lounge in Windsor Ontario Canada, the Velvet Room. It won the best new business award for the year 2000 from “The Drive” magazine, the primary business magazine for the city of Windsor.
Also in 2000, Jerry formed the Dark River Collective, a much acclaimed music/arts production group comprised of musicians, poets, singers, electronic music producers, artists and performers. A virtual fountain of creativity, Dark River Collective promoted meaningful art in music, crossing electronic and acoustic/organic sound with visual and verbal forms of expression. The group showcased many memorable performances in Detroit and Windsor, as well as at the Miami Winter Music Conference and a memorable performance on the main stage of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Dark River Collective evolved and expanded, and fueled Jerry’s Dark River Media, a record label and media company.
In 2002, then living in Paris, Jerry worked with his friend DJ Senz of Senzart.com, who formed Tuff Kids Recordings and TuffKids.tv to create music and media with a gritty urban attack. Tuff Kids is an underground cultural production crew comprised of artists of varying disciplines, mixing elements of Hip Hop and Electronic music culture to create edgy new fusions in sight and sound.
In December 2008 Jerry relocated to Lisbon, Portugal, where he continued to DJ and collaborate with a variety of producers and artists, including Vahgan Vos and Sky People, Gala Drop, Loosers, Audiopath (SHIFT), Lisbon Alien Orchestra (with Jari Marjamaki and Artuu Snellman), Joao Pedro (Kaspar), Steve Bird and more.
Jose Macabra
You are in the presence of a sonic master.
You cannot fail to know this, from the first seconds of experiencing Jose Macabra’s sound.
Immersive, utterly enthralling, mesmerising, hypnotic, transporting, transforming. These paltry words, each of which must be amplified tenfold to be more accurate descriptors, decay with imprecision as I am bathed in the astonishing sounds I am trying to describe.
This is music to invade one’s psyche, fill one’s soul, infuse into the very fibres of one’s being in a manner that can be achieved by only the finest and most enduring of artists. This is dark, existential music that punctures one’s chest and wraps its grasp around one’s beating heart, demanding total attention as one is bathed in its relentless sonic flux.
Such musical agility, such versatility, such precision strokes of sound, such suppleness and intelligence and litheness underpin these devastatingly brilliant sonic sculptures.
One senses so many influences, from the industrial and noise scenes, together with a legion of related genres such as ritual and the darker flavours of techno, blended with sound art, art brut and experimental music. What is rather more striking than a mere list of influences that occur to this particular listener’s ear, is the cohesive aesthetic — Macabra’s voice, vision, sound, style, art — into which these influences have been infused. It is Macabra’s voice we hear, its intelligence and insight and vision, tinctured with these influences but utterly transcending them. Behold, the rarest of emergences: the birth of a new voice.
Macabra is masterful in such a range of styles, underground and overground. His aural and emotional volumes range from a whisper to a scream, a whimper to an orgasm, a sigh to an apocalypse. Here is such a rich variety of emotional colours, characteristically dark, but also blended with a certain exuberance, especially in many of the beat-driven works. Ranging from the apocalyptic to the joyous, these genuinely powerful sounds are always challenging in the positive senses of the term, always inviting the listener to explore sonic vistas that break new and ever-fresh ground.
We live in times where the flux of so-called experimental music and related genres is a nigh-infinite avalanche of largely indifferent shades of grey mediocrity. Macabra’s music is a beacon whose brilliance stiletto-pierces such drab surrounds, drenching it in the radiance of genuine musical mastery.

Lena Willikens
Nothing trains a DJ more than a long lasting residency. A truism that the Cologne based musician and DJ Lena Willikens always proves when she spins her vinyl. Since more then five years, she has been in charge of long and sweaty Friday night parties at Düsseldorf’s free-spirited club/bar Salon Des Amateurs.
She is also a dedicated member of the Cómeme records tribe and all its missions: her name is frequently on the label’s party bills and she runs globally famed the monthly radio show “Sentimental Flashback” for Radio Cómeme, that UK-based Juno records elected to the best podcast/mix of 2014. As a DJ, radio broadcaster and producer, Lena is never committed to one style, all is welcome as long as it is twisted the in a one-of-a-kind way. As a producer she arranged a very special ghost wave track “High Holes“, that was released by the Düsseldorf based label Slowboy Records via the vinyl only sampler “Kingii” in 2012. Early 2015 she released her first solo EP “Phantom Delia” on Cómeme. Therefore she produced six mystique tracks between droning EBM, ghost-house and no-wavish outernational grooves.
The same sonic approach to music is significant for Lenas live performances in the name of film, a thing she recently added to her artistic catalogue. As a debut she prepared an impressive soundtrack to the Japanese movie “Japanese Girls from the Harbour” for the LiveSoundtrack Festival in Barcelona. Generated with a set-up of Theremin (trained in her former band Titanoboa) effects, loop pedal and turntables, the result was a partly spooky, partly melancholic atmosphere, fitting the dramatic and depressing aethetic of the movie. Definitly a thing we will see more often from Lena Willikens in the future.

Lena Willikens grew up in a bowl – a grey valley poured full with smog and obscured by tall walls. Stuttgart, home to drivers of Porsches and Mercedes Benz. Local Suicide
Berlin-based DJ duo and couple Brax Moody (Munich) and Vamparela (Thessaloniki) have been collaborating together since 2007, either as a DJ duo, in bands, or as remixers and music producers. Merging the rhythm and dynamism of Munich’s hip-hop clubs with the grime and attitude of Thessaloniki’s back-alley indie bars gives an idea of how to categorize Local Suicide: a straight-up energetic fusion of new wave, slow techno, post disco, acid house or as they like to call it “technodisco”.
As DJs they’ve played all over Europe, Asia, North Africa, South America and the US with gigs at Lollapalooza, Melt!, Amsterdam Dance Event, Off Sonar, Berlin Festival and almost every club the German capital has to offer whilst holding down day jobs in the music industry and running one of the top 10 independent music & lifestyle blogs in Germany with 30+ international editors. Rest assured that these two have honed their musical tastes and chops.
Having organized parties, festivals, and moderated radio shows for years, Local Suicide are just as much at ease inside the booth as they are outside. June 2014 saw them release their debut single “We can go everywhere” on Bordello a Parigi alongside remixes from In Flagranti, Richard Rossa and Inigo Vontier. The release has been supported by XLR8R, Thump, DJ Mag, Mixmag, De:Bug amongst many others and We can go everywhere adds a major stone to the duo’s path to major world disco take-over. “Owl & Wizzle“ which they produced with Rodion in his vintage synth studio in Berlin that features Mz Sunday Luv on vocal duties was released in June 2016 on Multi Culti‘s first Compilation after being premiered on THUMP. It quickly reached the top 30 Beatport Indie/Nu disco Charts and was heading the Juno balearic/downtempo charts for a month. In July 2016 the duo released a remix for Digitalism (also co-produced with Rodion) on PIAS Cooperative. In January 2017 a remix by My Favorite Robot of a track by Rodion & Local Suicide was released on My Favorite Robot Records‘ annual winter compilation which got praised by DJ Mag (7,5/10) and FAZE Mag (9/10) among others. marum
marum is based in Berlin but a considerable part of the cultural and artistic activity directed by him happens in Lisbon. In 2010 he founded the Rabbit Hole collective, a cultural association that very quickly left a mark on the Portuguese capital by showcasing disruptive artistic production in the fields of performance, installation, DJing, concerts and other disciplines. In music, the influence of minimalistic composers, movie scores and smoke-filled raves are behind his love for hypnotic, acid and industrial techno.
In 2016 he gathers elements of the Rabbit Hole and Rádio Quântica crews to create what would become one of Lisbon’s most talked about parties in recent years: mina. The party, in which he is a resident, was conceived to be a queer, feminist and sex-positive techno rave with a strict door policy and a few simple premises that assure civility and respect for dancing bodies in the name of the original spirit of rave.
He has played throughout Europe, highlights of which are Lux (Lisbon), Folies Pigalle (Paris), Temple (Greece), Rote Sone (Munich), Institute fur Zukunft (Leipzig), OHM (Berlin) sharing bills with the likes of Violet, Photonz, Antigone, Pandora’s Jukebox, CEM, Oscar Mulero, Dj Pete, Madalba, among others.
At Rádio Quântica, marum does the monthly show VANTABLACK where he shares his latest musical finds as well as guest mixes and talks about club culture, feminism and queer politics.

Monolake Live Surround
Textural and rhythmical music for a standing and potentially dancing audience in a dark space, surrounded by loudspeakers. No visual component, just massive moving wall of structured sound.
Monolake Live Surround is the result of performing electronic dance music since 1995. It is also the result of using the software which was born out of this experience, Ableton Live.
The performance is a pairing of the legacy of early Berlin Techno, with an abundance of influences ranging from academic computer music to UK dubstep, from classical minimal music to drone and noise.
It is presented as a multiple channel surround sound experience, which Monolake is pioneering since its beginnings, and which did include versions for wave field synthesis, ambisonics and other state of the art audio formats.
Monolake Live Surround is a deliberately non-visual performance. It is not about watching something, it is also not about observing a performer on a stage, it is about getting lost and carried away by sound.
“If surround sound is to become more present in clubs (…) then Monolake’s music hints at a style native to the medium, a strange new zone where the brainy and the bodily meet.”
Angus Finlayson, Resident Advisor.

Mumdance
Mumdance is one of the UK’s most respected DJs and producers, honing an influential and often imitated sound that draws from grime, techno, experimental sound design, hardcore and more.
As a DJ, he inhabits a unique musical space, encapsulated by his weekly Rinse FM show which has seen him comfortably play back to back DJ sets with heavy hitters such as Nina Kraviz, DJ Stingray, Regis, James Ruskin, Perc, Lee Gamble, Prurient, Shifted, Ron Moreilli, Pinch & Varg, as well as artists from across the full breadth of the dance music spectrum such as DJ Storm, ENA, Helm, Spyro, Powell, Tropic of Cancer, Slipmatt, Sunil Sharpe, Peder Mannerfelt, Josey Rebelle, Beneath & Kowton.
Since learning his craft in the basement of pioneering grime artist Jammer around 2006, Mumdance has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative producers. His early days saw him collaborate with artists as diverse as Skepta and Brodinski, while living & working with local musicians in Mexico, Brazil & Egypt broadened his horizons in a way that informs his work to this day.
In 2013, following a two-year hiatus, Mumdance returned with his most critically acclaimed and commercially successful music to date. Honing a stark, minimalist aesthetic, his 2013 mixtape Twists & Turns was in FACT Magazine’s top ten albums of the year and their 31st best album of the last five years, while his collaborations with Novelist, ‘Take Time’ and ‘1 Sec’ (released on legendary label XL Recordings), mark two of the biggest anthems from grime’s recent revival, and topped end of year charts from Resident Advisor, Mixmag, FACT, Dummy, Noisey and more.
This period also saw Mumdance come into his own as a DJ, with a series of well-received and influential mix CDs – a back-to-back mix CD with Pinch in 2014, a CD for Fabric’s prestigious FabricLive series in 2015, and again a year later with ‘Mumdance & Logos Presents Different Circles’ – one of US iTunes’ top 10 electronic albums of 2016. He has since played international festivals including Sónar Barcelona and Reykjavik, Unsound, CTM, SXSW, Glastonbury, Applesap and Field Day, toured Europe, the Americas and Asia on multiple occasions, lectured at the Tate & performed at the Barbican and ICA. As a speaker, he has since lectured and hosted production workshops across Europe, and as far afield as Australia, Japan, India and Russia.
During this time he also launched Different Circles, his record label and event series with Logos which coined the ‘weightless’ sound – an already-influential combination of grime, techno, music concreté, ambient music & sound design. The weightless series of vinyls laid out a set of ideas for approaching soundsystem music from a completely different angle. Different Circles has run a number of label events across the UK and reached out across Europe at Berghain’s Säule space & Elevate Festival in Austria.
An experienced collaborator, Mumdance has worked extensively with Pinch, producing a string of dance floor focused EP’s as well as long time collaborator Logos, releasing the critically acclaimed album ‘Proto’ which twisted techno, bleep, tech-step, grime & hardcore into strange new forms. Also working with artists more further afield such as BAFTA-nominated Mica Levi, Tirzah, Nozinja & Yuzo Koshiro. Alongside this, Mumdance has two more experimental leaning side projects; ‘The Sprawl’, in collaboration with Shapednoise & Logos which explores dark cyberpunk soundscapes & ‘Bliss Signal’ which combines black metal with drone & cascading walls of sound.
